Funeral services for Alvin R. Skow, 75 of Emerson will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Emerson with Pastor Gretchen Ritola officiating. Burial will be in the Omaha Valley Cemetery, Homer. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, South Sioux City. Mr. Skow died Saturday, May 13, 2017 at his home in Emerson. Alvin Roy Skow was born June 21, 1941 in Homer the son of Harry and Violet (Georgesen) Skow. He graduated from Homer High School in 1959 and then served in the Iowa State National Guard. He farmed southwest of Homer until retiring in 1996. Alvin married Theresa Flannery on April 8, 1989 in Sioux City. The couple resided in Emerson where he worked as a Bee Keeper and owned and operated his own Vineyard. He was a member of the Mid America Museum, Sioux land Fly Fishing, St. Luke’s, Lutheran Church, a square dance club, and sold vegetable’s and honey at the farmers market. Alvin also enjoyed camping and traveling. Alvin is survived by his wife Theresa Skow of Emerson, and their dog Muffy, one sister Irene (Virgil) Rasmussen of Emerson, one niece Ilene (Mike) Hofmeister of Dakota City, two nephews Troy Rasmussen of Emerson, and Dean Wallwey of Aurora, CO, and one brother in-law Dennis Wallwey of Centennial, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Donald Skow and one sister Jane Wallwey.
