M. Jewell Weber, 91 of South Sioux City formerly of Hornick, Iowa passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at a South Sioux City Care Center. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Katie Newman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 8 P.M. at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 P.M. M. Jewell Galland was born May 18, 1926 in Struble, Iowa the daughter of Lloyd R. and Minnie C. (Burow) Galland. She graduated from Cushing High School 1945. She was employed as secretary to the school superintendent, and the Cushing telephone officer before moving to Sioux City where she was employed with T.S. Martin Department Store. She married Merald E. “Butch” Weber February 20, 1949 at St. John Lutheran Church, Cushing, Iowa. They lived on the Weber farm near Holly Springs. They bought the family farm and continued to farm until retiring and moving to Dakota City in 1989. She was a member of St. John Evangelical and Reformed Church in German City, Iowa. She was also a member of American Legion Auxillary Post 666 in Smithland, Iowa for over 34 years. The couple sold their home in Dakota City and moved to South Sioux City in August of 1997. Survivors include a son Delane and his wife Shelly Weber of Kinawick, WA a daughter Pamela and her husband Freddy Baker of Hornick, IA, three granddaughters: Jennifer (Justin) Prichard, Katelyn (Brian) Gibson, Heather Weber and friend Dustin and six great grandchildren.
