Robert R. “Bob” Boals 83 of rural Dakota City, passed away at his residence, with family by his side Saturday December 16, 2017. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Dakota City with the Rev. Sandra Braash officiating. Burial will be in the Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be begin at 5 P.M. Tuesday at the church and a prayer service at 7 P.M. Becker – Hunt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Bob was born September 11, 1934 in Sioux City the son of Ralph and Genevieve (Hutchings) Boals. He attended Brushy Bend Country School and graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1953. After high school he worked on a cattle ranch in South Dakota. He attended South Dakota State College in Brookings where he played football for the Jack Rabbits. He served in the U. S. army spending time in Germany. After his discharge he farmed and fed cattle and hogs with his dad for many years. Bob married Dian Morgan on June 17, 1961 in Salem Lutheran Church, rural Dakota city. He enjoyed serving on the University of N.E. Extension board and the Dakota county rural Water Board. He was a member of the Northeast Cattle Feeders Association. Bob was proud to be a member of the Shrine Hospital Dads. He took many children to the Shrine Hospital in St. Paul, MN. He was proud to have a pilot’s license and enjoyed flying. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church where he served on the church council, taught Sunday school and served on other committees. Bob is survived by his wife Dian, two sons: Drew (Anne) Boals of Dakota city, Wes (Linda) Boals of Lakeville, MN, and their son John; two sisters: Grace Anne Anderson of Dakota City, Linda (Perry) Dawes of Elkhorn, NE, and many nieces and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Jed, Nephew Philip, niece Jennifer, sister-in-law Judy Morgan, brother-in laws: Robert Sparling, Jerry Anderson, Larry and his wife Penny Morgan. The family would like to express a special thank you to Jody, Charlotte and Amy from Hospice, Pastor Sandra, Paula Kassing, and the other caregivers from Synergy Home Health Care.
