Carl L. Henshaw 81, passed away Wednesday January 24, 2018 at a South Sioux City Care Center. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at Hope Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Awe officiating. Burial with military graveside services will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. , with family present beginning at 6:30 P.M. at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home Carl was born February 14, 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Leon and Bernice (Croft) Henshaw. He graduated from Central High School. He served in the Marine Corps from June 10, 1954 until June 9, 1956 and was with the reserves until 1958. He married Betty Ann Mohlfeld August 16, 1962 in rural Wayne, Nebraska. He graduated from Wayne State College and received two masters degrees from the University of Iowa. He taught in Sioux City Schools and other schools in Iowa and Nebraska. After his retirement he did substitute teaching. Carl was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, was a Sunday School teacher and taught E.S.L. He helped with the Central High School Alumni activities and was an avid patron of the South Sioux City Public Library. Carl loved to read and enjoyed the Top 40. He would visit with anyone about history facts and politics. Survivors include two daughters: Carol Ann and her husband John Romanus of Papillion, NE, Beth Laura Henshaw of Denver, Co, two grandchildren: Logan and Sara Romanus and a brother-in-law Harvey (Bonnie) Mohlfeld of Wayne, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Betty, August 11, 2001.
