Joanne L. Stilwell, 61, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018. Abiding by her wishes, her body has been cremated and a Celebration of Life service will be at Sunrise Retirement Community, the Gurwulf Community Center, 5501 Gordon Drive, from 2 to 5 P.M. Friday, November 30, 2018.
Joanne was born the daughter of Howard and Virginia (Anderson) Huisenga on August 18, 1957 in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from East High and attended WIT. Joanne married Dennis “Denny” Stilwell on March 18, 1977 in Sioux City.
She managed Burger King for 15 years until her health declined.
Joanne enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting her grandchildren. She liked the outdoors, camping, caring for animals, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Denny Stilwell of Sioux City; children, Stacie (Ryan) Messmer of Surprise, Arizona, Cassie (Ashton) Lee of Salix, Iowa, and Ryan (Megan) Stilwell of Maricopa, Arizona; her father, Howard Huisenga of Sioux City, Iowa; two brothers, Ron (Joyce) Huisenga of Pottstown, Pennsylvania and Jim Huisenga of Manassas, Virginia; sister, Mary (Dan) Parker of Sioux City, Iowa; and eight grandchildren, Rya, Steja, Daceson, Kylinn, Carson, Aiden, Aubrey, and Ella.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia, sister-in-law, Syl, and nephew, Charlie.
