C.E. "Gene" Krumwiede

   C.E. “Gene” Krumwiede, 94, formerly of South Sioux City, NE passed away November 13, 2018 in Omaha, NE after a brief illness.

   Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City with Karl Luther officiating.  Military honors will be presented by the United States Army Honor Guard.  Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

   C.E. “Gene”, the son of Henry and Anna (Bassett) Krumwiede, was born June 27, 1924 in Sioux City.  He grew up in Dakota City, NE and graduated from Dakota City High School in 1942.  Gene served with the United States Army in Korea until his honorable discharge.

   In July of 1950, Gene was united in marriage to Ceoyne Hurlbutt and this union was blessed with two children.  Gene was a longtime resident of South Sioux City and had lived briefly in Hooper, NE and Fremont, NE during the 1960’s and 70’s.  He worked as a supervisor with Northern Natural Gas until retiring in 1982.  Ceoyne passed away on October 27, 1986.

   In September of 1989, Gene married Dorothy (Oder) Strohbehn and they enjoyed twenty-six years together until she passed away on August 28, 2015.

   Gene enjoyed woodworking, yard work, and fine cars.  Above all, he loved spending time with family.  His home church was First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City.

   He is survived by one son Mark (Tammy) Krumwiede of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Kara (Clayton) Kibbie, Kyle (Lexi) Krumwiede all of Omaha, NE, Chad Krumwiede of Columbia, SC, Candace Carroll and Jimmy Carroll both of Dublin, GA; brother, Robert (Carol) Krumwiede of Dakota Dunes, SD; sister, Carol Ann Krumwiede of Omaha, NE; and numerous other treasured relatives and friends.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Goldie Krumwiede; spouses: Ceoyne and Dorothy; daughter, Cindy Carroll; granddaughter, Cristy Jo Krumwiede and brother, Richard Krumwiede.
