Danny E. Caster

November 9, 1936 — October 29, 2018

   Danny E. Caster, 81, of Sioux City died Monday, October 29, 2018 at his residence.

   Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  Burial with military honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

   Danny E., the son of Fred and Helen (Deahl) Caster, was born November 9, 1936 in Albia, IA.  He graduated from high school in Des Moines, IA.  In 1961, Danny moved to Sioux City to join the 185th TFW.

   On June 19, 1965, Danny was united in marriage to Connie Jean Belding in Sioux City.  Danny served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, entering into active duty in January of 1968 and was honorably discharged in May of 1969.  He continued his career as a jet engine mechanic with the 185th in Sioux City until retiring. 

   Danny was an avid bowler for many years and also enjoyed going to the bowling alley every Thursday night to watch his friends bowl.  He enjoyed playing the lottery, scratch tickets, taking drives, and helping others.  He had been a member of Riverside Lutheran Church and had been a blood donor with Siouxland Community Blood Bank.

   He is survived by one son, Todd Caster; one daughter, Christine and husband Matthew Carter; one grandson, Tristin Carter all of Sioux City; sister-in-law, Shirley Caster of Des Moines, IA; sister-in-law, Mardella Wilson of Sioux City; brother-in-law, Robert Cottrell of Parker, SD; and other relatives and friends.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie; two children in infancy: Dawn Cathlene and Danny Jr.; one brother, Jerry Caster; brother-in-law, Harry B. and wife Joan Belding; brother-in-law, Jerry Wilson; sister-in-law, Pamela Cottrell and niece, Penny Cottrell Hayden.
