Judith “Judy” A. Carda, 74, of Sioux City, IA died Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Havelock Manor in Lincoln, NE after a long battle with cancer.
A celebration of life for Judy will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018, in the lower level at First Presbyterian Church in Sioux City.
Judy, the daughter of Howard and Pauline (Hanson) Johson, was born December 30, 1943, in Minnesota. She attended school in Minnesota and went to Central High School in Sioux City.
On June 18, 1969, Judy was united in marriage to James “Jim” Patrick Carda in Elk Point, SD and this union was blessed with five children. Judy and Jim lived in several communities while Jim served in the military. In 1979, they moved back to Sioux City and she started working at Armour Packing plant. In 1981, Jim’s job took them to Texas and she worked as the head of kitchen at Buck and Charlie’s. In 1982, Judy returned to Sioux City. While living in Sioux City, she worked at Gateway and McDonalds. Judy and Jim moved to Sioux Falls and they both attended truck driving school and then they team drove for about five years.
Judy enjoyed quilting, crocheting, painting, fishing and camping.
She is survived by two sons: Jeff Carda (Shelly O’Brien) of South Sioux City, NE and Jim Carda (Jennie) of Lincoln, NE; two daughters: Terri McNaughtoncarda (Ed Blake) of Jefferson, SD and Brenda Ortiz (Jay) of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Ditsworth (Tom) of Audubon, IA; a brother-in-law, John Shannon of Columbus, NE; and a sister-in-law, Sonya Johnson of Sioux City, IA.
She was preceded in death by her father; mother; step father, Claude Streeter; husband; one daughter, Cynthia Carda; two brothers: Edward Johnson and Leonard Johnson (Maxine); and two sisters: Lois Shannon and Mae Carter (Floyd).
