Nancy Jeanne Youds

January 18, 1931 — September 20, 2018

Nancy J. Youds, age 87, of Sioux Falls, SD died Sept. 20, 2018. She was united in marriage to Wally Youds on May 16, 1954 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Sioux City, Iowa.

Nancy lived the majority of her life in Sioux City, IA graduating from Central High School and Morningside College with her teaching degree. She worked as an administrative assistant at WA Klinger Construction Company then spent almost 30 years teaching English in South Sioux City, NE at the middle and high school levels. Nancy, in addition to her teaching career and caring for her family, gave of her time in many other areas of her life: faith, family, friends, and community. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and dedicated to Christian service through teaching Sunday School, altar guild, playing the organ, and working many special church events. Although she had no real interest in the Iowa Hawkeyes or other sports, she did love her husband, children and grandchildren, so she spent many hours at football fields,  soccer fields and ice arenas, and at home in the recliner with Wally watching Hawkeye football and basketball.

She was a wonderful role model as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and child of God. She saw the beauty of the world in flowers, birds and squirrels, and demonstrated her hope for the future in her commitment to education.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wally. She is survived by her sister and spouse   Janet (Jim) White of Omaha Nebraska, two sons and their spouses: Bob (Eileen) of Burke, South Dakota, and Richard (Kendra) of Marshalltown, Iowa.

There are six grandchildren: Nick and Patrick Youds of Ames, Iowa; Brooke (Matt) Murphy of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Ben (Emily) Youds of Angelholm, Sweden; Jaci and Madison Hardman of Marshalltown, Iowa.

There are three great grandsons: Gavin and Graham Murphy of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Emmett Youds of Angelholm, Sweden.

The service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held at Touchmark, All Saints Chapel in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on October, 29th at 10 am.
