Alice M. Flanders, 83 of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 in the arms of her loving husband Bob at home following a long battle with cancer.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday at the St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Sunday with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to

Alice was born May 9, 1935 in Sioux City; she was the daughter of Alf and Anna (Lindstrom) Flaa. Alice grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Heelan High School in 1953.
On May 28, 1955, Alice married Robert W. Flanders in Sioux City. Bob and Alice were blessed with 8 precious children, four boys and 4 girls. Alice joined Bob in Germany with 3 month old Michael. By the time they returned to the States, they had added twin girls, Terri and Toni. Later came Matt, Kelly Jo, Bill, Martina and Jim.
Alice was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, she was a loving mother and companion to Bob. They both managed their country music band and performed side by side with three of their children, Mike, Matt and Kelly Jo. Alice produced costume clothing for the band with her sewing skills and designs.
Alice worked extensively in genealogy research. She was an avid bowler at the Plaza Bowl and served as league secretary for 28 years. Alice also played golf in the Sun Valley Golf League. She enjoyed taking out backlashes for the kids on their many fishing trips to Minnesota.
Survivors include her husband Robert of Sioux City; 6 children: Michael Flanders (Kimberly) of Sioux City, Terri Moreau (Matthew) of Sioux City, Toni Lauer (Wesley) of South Sioux City, NE, Matt Flanders (Michelle) of Atlantic, IA, Martina Macias (Florencio) of Sioux City and Jim Flanders (Deborah) of Sioux Falls, SD; 2 brothers: Robert Flaa of Arlington Heights, IL and David Flaa (Mary Lou Pizzio-Flaa) of Sacramento, CA; 30 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Kelly Jo Marshall, a son William Robert Flanders, a grandson Jonathan Flanders and a brother Richard Flaa.
She will be greatly missed by all.
