Mable was born August 18, 1913 in Sioux City, the daughter of J.C. and Mary (Sorensen) Petersen. She graduated from Tuley High School in Chicago, IL. After graduation Mable returned to Sioux City, where she met and married John Gilbert “Buddy” Mook on April 4, 1934. To this union a son John G. “Jack” Mook Jr. was born.
Mable worked for Younkers in the bookkeeping office for 29 years. A spiritual woman with the gift of wisdom and a servant’s heart, Mable’s life revolved around her Faith, Family, and Friends. She lived in the same house in Morningside for 76 years, where Saturday nights were spent watching the Gathers and Lawrence Welk and Sundays were faithfully spent at Morningside Lutheran Church. Mable loved her grandchildren and was grateful for all the time spent with each of them. She enjoyed her time with the Girls of ’68, volunteering for St. Lukes, and her jumbo puzzles. Mable was a beautiful, faithful, and generous woman and will be missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter-in-love: Carolyn (Mook) and husband Jerry Newman of Port St. Lucie, FL; grandchildren: Jason Mook of Jupiter, FL, Kari Sanford of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Justin Mook of Wiggins, CO; great grandchildren: Mason and Noah Mook, Ella, Grant, and Abby Sanford, and Grace and Lane Mook; and many nieces and nephews.
Mable was preceded in death by her husband Buddy on January 1, 1999, her son Jack on September 22, 2018, and seven siblings.
Memorials can be directed towards Morningside Lutheran Church in Mable's memory.
