August 7, 1951 — October 4, 2018

Cheryl Ann Wheatcraft, 67, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, October 04, 2018. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Awe officiating. Visitation will be Monday, October 8, 2018 from 6 to 8 P.M. with a prayer service at 7 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Cheryl was born the daughter of James S. and Betty M. (Moran) Moser on June 6, 1951 in Cherokee, Iowa. She was baptized August 7, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee and then later confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sioux City.

Cheryl graduated with honors from Gateway High School in 1969. She earned her nursing degree from West Penn Hospital’s School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse on the children’s cancer unit in Pittsburgh and in-home health care in Texas. She settled in Sioux City in 1992 where she worked at Indian Hills Care Center for many years.

She was a loving mother to her two children and relished spending time with her grandchildren taking them to McDonalds to play on the playground. She liked to play Scrabble, cards and dominos with her family and loved to laugh at stories shared with her brothers. She was a member of the Sioux City Garden Club and her home was surrounded by many beautiful flowers. She helped assemble large print devotionals at church. Her hobbies included cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, and going to garage sales to find knick-knacks and antiques to decorate her two-story Victorian home. She enjoyed making the holidays special with family meals. She also spent her time making crafts and Christmas decorations.

The family would like to thank St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for the spiritual care given and thank Siouxland PACE for their care and support to allow Cheryl the ability to live in her home for as long as possible.

Cheryl is survived by her mother, Betty Moser of Sioux City; son, William Wheatcraft of Sioux City and his children, Nycole, Logan, and Austin; daughter, Jami (Chad) Langholdt of Sioux City and their daughter, Jadyn; brother, Chris (Sophia) Moser and their son, Matthew; and sister-in-law, Frann (Tom) Lubash and their children, Emily and Neil.

She was preceded in death by her father, James; brother, Dan Moser; and niece, Mary Moser.
