Funeral services for Earl W. Reeves, 86, of Norfolk will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Madison with Reverend Barry Williams officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Madison with military rites by the Nebraska National Guard Honor Team and the American Legion Post 35. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Madison. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel of Sioux City is in charge of arrangements.
Earl died Monday, October 1, 2018 at St. Joseph Rehabilitation and Care Center.
Earl Wayne Reeves was born January 30, 1932 in Norfolk the son of Harold and Murriel (Jackson) Reeves. He was raised on a farm south of Battle Creek and attended Rural School District 53 before graduating from Madison High School in 1950. He was baptized and later confirmed at the Fairview Methodist Church.
Earl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 until 1954. He married Elaine Wagner on March 27, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church. The couple farmed west of Madison for one year and then moved north of Madison and farmed until retiring in 2011 and moving to Norfolk in 2012.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 35, served on rural school district 48 for many years, and also served on the Madison County Weed Control Board, and the ASCS.
Earl is survived by his wife Elaine Reeves of Norfolk, three children and their spouses, Jim and Geri Reeves of Madison, Deb and Joe Ebeling of Norfolk, and Tim and Michele Reeves of Madison, one son in-law Jim Pfeifer of Clarkson, ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter Peggy Pfeifer in 2013 and one grandson Brian Pfeifer.
