Gladys N. Nyhus, 67, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at a local care center.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be Monday, October 1, 2018 from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at

Gladys was born January 26, 1951 in Johnson, Kansas, the daughter of George and Lorene (Gray) Thompson. She grew up in Stanton, NE and later moved with her family to Colerige, NE, graduating from Laurel High School. Gladys attended St. Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City. She worked as a physical therapy nurse in Oklahoma and after moving to Sioux City, Gladys worked as a nurse for various nursing homes.
Gladys enjoyed crocheting and fishing, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Faith Based Non-Denominational Church and Al Anon.
Survivors include her husband Tom Nyhus of Sioux City; children: Scott (Melinda) Thompson of Pryor, OK, Georgia Crouch of Sioux City, Dianne (Sam) Sattizahn of Sioux City, Donnie (Ashley) Davis of Sioux City, and Richie Davis of Sioux City; 27 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters: Mary Jean Thompson of Seward, NE, and Dollie Thomas of Seward, NE; brothers: George R. (Sheryl) Thompson of Lake City, MI, and Tim T. (Debra) Thompson of Osmond, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Marie Acton.
