Robert Wayne “Bob” Russell, 71, of Sioux City passed away on Monday, September 25, 2018 at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 28, 2018 at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Visitation will begin at noon. Pastor Scott Van Voorst will officiate. Online condolences may be directed to

Bob was born on December 22, 1946 in Sioux City, to Wayne and Leota (Gapp) Russell. He attended school through the Sioux City Public Schools before joining the Army in 1964. While enlisted, Bob served in Korea as a truck driver and as an instructor at Fort Leonardwood in Missouri. In 1967, Bob returned to Sioux City and began working at General Motors, where he remained for 13 ½ years. Following his time at General Motors, he worked for the Local 33 Pipefitters Union in Sioux City for 30 years before retiring. On May 18, 2013 he married his longtime partner, Connie Derby in Hinton, IA.
Bob enjoyed fishing, playing pool and darts, boating, camping, and collecting swords and knives. Survivors include Bob’s wife, Connie Russell; sons: Jamie P. Russell of Sioux City, and Jaime L. Russell of Sioux City; daughters: Tiffeny Neal (Rod) of Dakota City, NE, and Jaylynn Russell of Sioux City; 5 grandchildren; brother, Terry Russell of Colorado; sisters: Beverly Olson of Sioux City, and Diane Fowler (Ed) of Jefferson, SD; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert W. Russell, Jr.; sister, Debra Kunkel; and brother, Donald Russell.
