Kathy A. Batcheller, 70, of Sioux City passed away on Friday September 21, 2018 at a Sioux City Hospital after a long and challenging battle with breast cancer.
Services at 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Rev. Roger Madden and Neil Peck will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to

Kathy was born June 16, 1948 in LaPorte City, IA; she was the daughter of Harley and Eleanor (Peters) Conner. The family lived in LaPorte City before moving to Waterloo, IA where Kathy graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1966. She attended the University of Iowa where she pursued her degree in elementary education and graduated in the fall of 1970. While attending the University of Iowa she met her future husband, Douglas Batcheller, in 1966 and they were married on September 25, 1971 in Waterloo, IA. Kathy and Doug made their home in Sioux City for 47 years.
Kathy taught fourth grade at Sioux City’s Bryant Elementary School from 1971 until 1977 and then become the CEO of the Batcheller household after her children were born. Kathy later worked as a photography assistant for Genelli’s Studio for many years where she enjoyed working with families. She was a member of PEO and the Junior League of Sioux City and assisted with various community groups and her children’s activities over the years. Kathy and Doug enjoyed traveling especially when it involved a chance to visit with friends and family. They were members of various bridge and dinner groups. Kathy had cultivated many close friendships over the years and enjoyed being around people, creating a beautiful home and was a voracious reader and an excellent cook. She took great pride in her children and recently she was over the moon to spend time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Douglas of Sioux City; her children Adam Batcheller (Nicole) of Waco, TX and Amanda Dahms (Mark) of Omaha, NE; her mother Eleanor Conner of Waterloo, IA; 2 grandchildren: Conner Dahms and Bryce Batcheller as well as 5 cousins.
