Genevieve A. "Genny" Allyn-Bishop

June 22, 1935 — September 9, 2018

Genevieve “Genny” A. (Allyn-Bishop), 83, of Sioux City was promoted to Heaven on Sunday, September 9, 2018.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Loving Faith Fellowship with Pastor Patrick Burgess officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Genny was born June 22, 1935 in Sioux City, the daughter of Felix and Elsie (Hoag) Boucher. A lifelong Sioux City resident, she attended Sioux City schools. Genny married Norman “Pete” Allyn on July 5, 1952 in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1983.


Genny was a caregiver all of her life, taking care of others and family members. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting but her greatest love was her grandchildren and family. She was a member of Loving Faith Fellowship.

Survivors include her children: Sharon (Steve) Miller of Rapid City, SD, Norma (Brad) Dillard of Sioux City, Norman “Bud” Allyn Jr. of Sioux City, and Dort (Rick) Hanslip of Sergeant Bluff, IA; grandchildren: Michael (Laura) Miller, Bryan Miller, BJ (Jenny) Dillard, Nate Dillard, Jason Allyn, Cori Allyn, Joe (Karissa) Allyn, Angela Sheehan, Amber Allyn, Montana Allyn, Jessica (Nathan) O’Connor, and Jacob (Mariah) Hanslip, 21 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister Beverly Bradbury of Sioux City; brother in law William (Velma) Allyn; sister in law Delores Johnson; brother in law James (Betty) Reese, and brother in law Lester Bewley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sisters, 1 brother, and a great grandson Tristen Allyn.
