Lois A. James, 74, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, September 09, 2018 following a brief illness. In accordance to her wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 14 at 12:00P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Lois was born on January 10, 1944 in Sioux City to Charles M. and Fern E. (McPherson) Carnes. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. She graduated from Central High School in 1962 and began her career as a secretary. Lois was employed with Blue Cross and Blue Shield for 26 years, and also worked for IMT Insurance Co. and the billing department of Mercy Home Care. She retired in 2004. Survivors include her longtime companion Terry Baxter; her children: Jeff James and Stephani (Scott) Klemme; grandchildren: Sara, Jack, Katie and Brock; great-grand sons: Wyatt and Kalyn; sisters: Fern Wieland and her children Scott and Leigh Ann (Roberto), of Tennessee and Mary Jane Morgan (Robert), of Arkansas. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, a still born granddaughter, and daughter-in-law Trinca Kinnetz-James. Lois lived her life as a strong, independent, decisive person. Family and friends were very important to her. She dearly loved cats and enjoyed Missy as a loving pet for 20 years. Snowflake was also her very special feline pet.
