Cathie J. Brende

Cathie J. Brende, 59, of Dakota Dunes passed away Wednesday, September 5 2018. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 10 at 7:00 PM at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 PM with the family present from 5-8. Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Cathie was born on November 11, 1958 in Sioux City to G. William and Chloe (Fulton) Gross. At the age of 15 Cathie began working at Sioux City Bakery, decorating cakes and working the counter. She continued to work there for 15 years. After that she started working as an administrative assistant for First Financial Bank, where she had been employed for the past 20 years. Cathie was united in marriage to Tim Brende on January 14, 1981 in Sioux City. Cathie loved spending time with her family, especially her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. They were the lights of her life. Those left to honor her memory include her husband Tim Brende, Dakota Dunes, SD; daughter, Katie (Bobby) Frankl, Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Jase and Reese Frankl; brothers: David (Barbara) Gross, Sioux City, Steven (Mary) Gross, Sioux City; sister: Rebecca Gross, Sioux City; sister-in-law’s, Nicki Gross, Sioux City and Patty Treptow, Sioux City; nieces and nephews: Joanna, Alison, Owen, Nick, Jennifer, Brett, Casey, Donovan, Quinton, Alex, Spenser, Luke, Leo, Paige, and baby Chloe. She is preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for donations to various charities.
