Peter Lee Johnson, 31, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at a local hospital.
Visitation with the family present will be Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 4-7 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 2223 Indian Hills Drive, Sioux City, IA 51104 with Father Jerome Cosgrove officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brother Colonial Chapel.
Pete was born March 29, 1987 in Sioux City, the son of Randy and Mary Ann (Widman) Johnson. He attended Heelan High School where he was active in Track and excelled in Football, which became a huge part of his life. Pete spent the final two summers of his high school career serving in the Army National Guard, graduating in 2005 from Heelan.
Pete married Melissa Jordan on August 31, 2013 in Sioux City. Together the couple owned Kid Logic Childcare and Preschool Inc. in South Sioux City, NE. Pete was an extremely hard worker, and a big asset to many employers. Pete's zest for life was shown in many ways. He had a heart of gold, and the love that he showed his friends, family, and strangers alike was genuine, uplifting, and loyal. His bright smile and funny wit could turn anyone's day around, and his passion for living and loving was unmatched. He enjoyed playing golf, was active on volleyball and curling leagues, was passionate about music, and loved to give back as an avid blood donor. As an organ donor his generosity lives on even after his death. Pete was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Pete's memory include his wife Melissa Johnson; daughter Jhournei Cooks-Johnson of Sioux City; parents Randy and Mary Ann Johnson of Sioux City; brother Noah and wife Lindy Johnson and their children Zane and Paige Johnson of Adel, IA; sisters in law: Jennifer and husband Brian Fisher of Parker, CO and Rachel Jordan and her son Eli of Thornton, CO; parents in law Kelly and husband Pat Casey of Parker, CO and Chris and wife Valorie Jordan of Thornton, CO; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his uncle Gary.
A College Savings Plan for Jhournei has been established. Memorials may be made payable to Stifel, Nicolaus & Co. for the College Savings Plan or Bishop Heelan for the Pete Johnson Memorial Scholarship for students with financial needs.
