SIOUX CITY | Services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church with Reverend Ralph Shorey officiating. Burial will be in the Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday with the family present 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel Please, in lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to help support missionaries at Mission Central (https://missioncentral.org/), as this was something close to Arnie’s heart.

Arnold “Arnie” Melvin Awe, 77, returned to his heavenly home on July 28, 2018 after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Arnie was born to the late Raymond and Lorine Awe, in Detroit, MI on November 20, 1940. He attended grade school at St. Thomas/St. Peter Lutheran School in Detroit, MI, high school at Denby High also in Detroit. He graduated from the Detroit College of Applied Science and started working as a draftsman at Putnam Tool, then Rockwell International for many years. Following retirement from Rockwell International, Arnie worked for AAL/Thrivent, selling insurance.
Arnie was blessed with a beautiful, loving family. He married his best friend Belva Jean LeFever, on October 6, 1962. Arnie helped raise his two children, and numerous foster children, with patience, discipline, and a love for Christ.
Arnie is survived by his wife, Belva; his son, Rev. Michael Awe and his wife Suzy; his daughter Marie Haenftling and her husband Rev. Peter; his grandchildren Adam Awe, Lauren Awe, Kirsten Awe, Elizabeth Haenftling and Joshua Haenftling; numerous nieces and nephews; and his sister Natalie Killenberger. He is preceded in death by his parents.
