October 15, 1939 — July 26, 2018

Dickie Lee Bell, 78 of Sioux City passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home following a short battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at Mater Dei, Church of the Nativity Catholic Church. Private family burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday with the family present from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. all at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com

Dick was born October 15, 1939 in Vermillion, SD; he was the son of Ted and Helen (Provost) Bell. Dick grew up in Sioux City, graduated from Heelan High School in 1958 and then attended the University Of Nebraska. He served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1965.

On July 13, 1963, Dick married Ann Marie Rainbow at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Waterloo, IA. Ann passed away October 24, 2015. They lived in Sioux City and enjoyed wintering in Arizona.

Dick had a 20 year career with Proctor and Gamble followed by a long career in the truck trailer sales business.

Dick was a longtime member of the Nativity Catholic Church and was a former member of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus. He had also been a member of the Elks Club and the V.F.W.

Dick enjoyed golfing, boating, attending sporting events involving his grandchildren, Notre Dame Football, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, cooking and cocktails with friends.

Survivors include his children Suzanne Kirwan (Dan) of Blair, NE, Kathryn Norys (Ron) of Dacula, GA, Michael Bell (Teresa) of Sioux Falls, SD; his sister: Evelyn Marsh of Sioux City; 9 grandchildren: Julia Kirwan, Ian Kirwan, Nolan Kirwan, Sophia Kirwan, Meghan Norys, Nicholas Norys, Nathan Norys, Noah Bell and Abi Bell; his great granddaughter Willow.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Ann.
