Betty Lorraine Spindler

March 5, 1931 — July 15, 2018

Betty Lorraine Spindler, 87, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at her home.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 21, 2018 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with Pastor Stacey Gerhart officiating. Visitation will be Friday, July 20, 2018 from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Betty was born on March 5, 1931 in Newcastle, NE, the daughter of Roy and Grace (Kolbaum) Shadbolt. Betty graduated from Pender High School in 1949 and then received her cosmetology certification from Ellis Beauty School. Betty started her career as a cosmetologist at Gingham Girls in Sioux City. She worked there for a number of years before meeting Clemens Spindler. They were married on September 13, 1958 in Pender, NE. This September, they were planning to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary.

Betty worked at the St. Thomas Episcopal Thrift Shop for a couple of years. She was a member of the Altar Guild at St. Thomas, as well. However, her greatest accomplishment was being a loving wife and mother to her husband, two sons, and five grandchildren. Betty took pleasure in reading murder mysteries, cooking, watching crime shows, and solving word puzzles. Although, her greatest love was her family and spending time with them all.

Survivors include her husband Clemens Spindler of Sioux City; son: Christian Spindler of Sioux City; grandchildren: Blythe Spindler of Savannah, GA, Evan Spindler of Elk Point, SD, Margerite Spindler of Sioux City, Denise Spindler of Sioux City, and Theodore Spindler of Sioux City; five siblings: Arden Shadbolt, Norma Schlickbernd, Dallas Shadbolt, Robert Shadbolt, and Wanda Peterson.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Denise Hope Spindler, her son Timothy Evan Spindler, and her three brothers: Roscoe, Donald, and Irwin Shadbolt.
