Patricia A. Meier, 84 of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at a local hospital. Abiding by her wish, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Pastor Laurice Streyffeler officiating. www.meyerbroschapels.com Patricia was born on July 4, 1934 in Sioux City, Iowa to Kenneth and Wanda (Alvin) Coon. She received her education in the Sioux City Public Schools, graduating from Central High School. She married John P. Meier on February 1, 1952. To this couple, three children were born. Patricia was a proud homemaker, raising her children and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Patricia was an avid reader, and enjoyed sewing, knitting, and embroidering. She made Christmas stockings for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She collected horses and wolves, being certain from family members that her spirit animal was the wolf since they were present throughout her home. She loved the outdoors, and often spoke of her favorite camping site of Custer State Park in South Dakota where the buffalo would roam through the campsites. Patricia was a wonderful cook and baker. She loved watching and feeding all the birds that came to eat and make a home.
Patricia is survived by her children Debra (Timothy) McAtee of Storm Lake, Iowa, Kim (Gina) Meier of South Sioux City, Nebraska, and Penny (Don “Red”) Nash of Sioux City, Iowa; 9 grandchildren Aaron McAtee and his significant other Heidi, Melissa McAtee and her significant other Logan, Justin (Erica) McAtee, Taylor Meier, Amanda (Steven) Bugbee, Justin (Brittany) Jasa, Jesse Grell and his significant other Jody, John Nash and his significant other Wendy, and Kelly (Ron) Williams; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Lt. Col. John P. Meier in February of 2015.
Honorary pallbearers will be all her grandchildren.
