Danny "Dan" G. Holmes

Danny “Dan” G. Holmes, 69, of Sioux City died July 8, 2018 at his residence.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Dan, the son of George and Lois (Buchanan) Holmes, was born February 9, 1949 in Sioux City, IA.  He attended grade school at St. Boniface and graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1967.  In 1969, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served during Vietnam until his honorable discharge.  Dan returned to Sioux City for a short time then moved to Las Vegas for seven years.  In Las Vegas, he worked at Ancient Slots.  Dan moved back to Sioux City and worked as a custodian at Morningside College until retiring in 2014.

Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing cards and bowling.  In his younger years, he attended St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Dan is survived by two brothers: James (Blanca) Holmes of South Sioux City, NE and David (Jodi) Holmes of Sioux Falls, SD; three sisters: Sandy (Mick) Biggerstaff of Ponca, NE, Carole (Charlie) McKnight of Sioux City, IA and Leann (Larry) Launer of Las Vegas, NV; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Edward Holmes; one sister, Linda Holmes and one niece, Aecho Holmes.
