Maurice C. "Maury" Kellogg

November 8, 1962 — July 9, 2018

Maurice Carl Kellogg, 55, of Dakota City passed away on July 9, 2018 surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 13, 2018 at Morningside Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 4 to 8 P.M. with family present from 6 to 8 P.M. with a prayer service at 7 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.

Maurice was born on November 8, 1962 in McGregor, Iowa to Gary and Catherine Kellogg. He lived in Elkader, Iowa as an infant and later moved to Wisconsin where most of his childhood took place. He graduated from West Grant High School in 1981, and had two years of continued education in diesel mechanics.

On September 24, 1983 he married Cindy Christ. After short stays in Illinois and Wisconsin, they settled in Dakota County, Nebraska in 1986. Maurice worked for Andersen Family Farms for the next 32 years with the exception of one year spent in Minnesota.

Maurice's greatest joys in life were his family and farming. He was a proud father of four children. He loved spending time with them whenever he could, including working with two of his sons, Montgomery and Matthew, on a daily basis. He was intelligent and hardworking. He could fix or build anything. If someone had a problem or needed something done, the first call was to Maury. He didn't mind the long, hard days that farming involved. He always said that he had fun every day.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy, and their four children, Montgomery, Maxwell, Matthew, and Sarah. His stepfather, Charles Quick, his siblings Mike (Shelly) Kellogg, Mark (Mary) Kellogg, Marlys Kellogg, and Dwight Quick, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gary Kellogg and Catherine Quick.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Maurice’s name to the Burn and Wound Center at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska or to the memorial fund at Morningside Lutheran Church.
