 Kennedy Vaughn, Jr. 67 of South Sioux City passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at his home.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 4:00- 8:00 P.M. Monday, July 2, 2018. The family will be present at the visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Kennedy was born April 7th, 1951 in Chicago, IL. He was the son of Edna (Judd) and Kennedy Vaughn Sr. Kennedy grew up in Chicago and attended Charles Richard Drew Elementary School. Later he attended Gillespie Junior High and graduated from Harlan High School. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire campus.

On February 14, 1970, Kennedy married Wilhemena Bellamy in Milwaukee, WI. They were married for 43 years and to this union 3 children were born. Mena passed away on January 15, 2013. Kennedy worked for Edison Power Company as a draftsman in Chicago. Later he moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and worked for Wisconsin Electric Company for 20 years. As an entrepreneur he owned and operated 2 bars and lounges in Milwaukee. Finally, he relocated to the Siouxland area and worked for Gateway 2000. He ended his career with Pech Optical until he retired.

Kennedy was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully on the usher board. He was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed the Chicago Cubs and White Sox, Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls. Kennedy enjoyed golfing and was a huge Tiger Woods fan. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles for relaxation. He demonstrated his love for music by co-founding the Love Masters singing group in Chicago in 1970. The Love Masters performed on the popular music show in Chicago, The Soul Train, performing their hit record Push and Pull in 1970. His most requested song was “Always and Forever.”

Survivors include his mother: Edna “Honey” Vaughn of Chicago, IL; his children: Soneni “Nene” Brown and her husband Michael of South Sioux City, NE, Kennedy Vaughn III and his wife Allison of Skokie, IL, Rani M. Vaughn of South Sioux City, NE; 2 sisters: Eunice Woods and her husband John of North Ridge, CA and Linda J. Bond of Chicago, IL; 7 grandchildren: Silas Brown, Mychyl Brown, Bogan Brown, Kailey Vaughn, Khyah Vaughn, Kennedy Vaughn IV and Avery Vaughn.

Kennedy was preceded in death his father, his wife and a nephew Michael Bond.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church or Hospice of Siouxland.
