Janice E. Miles, 89, of Sioux City passed away Friday, June 1, 2018. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Trimble United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Janice was born the daughter of Avon and Hazel (Howell) Stephenson on July 20, 1928 in Cammack, Indiana. She grew up in Cammack and graduated from Yorktown High School. She spent a few years in Cedar Falls, Iowa but lived the majority of her life in Sioux City.
She loved to bake pies, cookies, and cakes for volunteer activities and family events. She also loved to read and discuss books with her family and friends.
Janice served in the Eastern Star, on the Board of Shesler Hall, Friends and Family of the Mentally Ill, and was involved in the National Organization of the Mentally Ill. She was a member of Trimble United Methodist Church.
Janice is survived by four children, Linda (Mike) Hanson of Rosemount, Minnesota, Judith (Kevin) Miles Rolfes of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Lowell P. Miles III of Sioux City, and Matthew (Lynn) Miles of Sioux City; six grandchildren; three step-grandsons; two great grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell; son, Jeffrey Miles; five brothers; and one sister.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Trimble United Methodist Church, Hospice of Siouxland, Touchstone Living Center, or the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
