Lucinda Lynn “Cindy” (Rucker) Behr, 68, of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at a local hospital. A private family service is being conducted through Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Cindy was born on August 31, 1949 in Clarinda, Iowa to Katherine Pearl (Smith) and Elmer Lee Rucker. She attended Shenandoah High School and graduated in the class of 1968.Always artistically talented, Cindy’s school years were full of musicals, plays and art projects. At one point she sang in a State competition and won an award for Outstanding in the Field. Her dad was a farmer, so she was forever teased for being outstanding in the field.
Cindy continued her love of art and music with a career as a singer. She had many experiences traveling to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Alaska, Aruba, the Philippines and many other locations. After retiring, she met Curtis Behr and the two married in Shenandoah, Iowa on July 25, 1995. Shortly after, they moved to Des Moines where she was active in theater. After 1 year, they moved back to Sioux City where she worked with her husband in their business. In 2008 she opened her own business, “One Of A Kind,” where she put her arts and crafts talents to work with her best friend, Tracey Cabanna. Cindy spent many happy hours fulfilling her life’s ambition of creating decorative items and paintings. She did interior design and sold floral arrangements, gift baskets, and other home design items. She was also a regular at karaoke and showcasing other singing talents, until her illness prevented her from continuing.
Survivors include her husband, Curtis Behr; sisters: Kathy (Ed) Sands, Wanda (Dale) Lockamy, and Barbara Rucker; sons: Clinton Ogle and Doug Ogle; nephews: Jason (Shantel) Sands, Aaron (Rachel) Sands, Justin Roeder, and Reagan Roeder; and many grand-nieces and nephews.
Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Lee Rucker and stepfather, Irvin Buckner.
