Phyllis F. Clingenpeel

   Phyllis Frances Clingenpeel, 89, of South Sioux City, died on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at her home.

   Memorial services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 1, 2018, at Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City. Pastor Michael Awe will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8 P.M. Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the family present from 6-8 P.M. Online condolences may be directed to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

   Phyllis was born on December 20, 1928, to George and Frances (Braunschmidt) Jungwirth, in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from East High School with the Class of 1946.

   Phyllis married Russell K. Clingenpeel on September 19, 1951, in Elk Point, South Dakota.  She was employed by JCPenney Company as a sign painter, and was with the South Sioux City Community School System in the food system for 20 years before retiring.

   Phyllis enjoyed dancing, camping, and crafting.  She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary – Post 307 of South Sioux City.  

   Survivors include daughter Jozell Engel of South Sioux City; two sons, Don (Stephanie) Clingenpeel of Italy, Texas; and Ronald (Kris) Clingenpeel of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

   She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Clingenpeel; a son, Douglas Clingenpeel; her mother and father; four brothers; two sisters; and two grandsons.
