Darlene Carlson, 90, of Sioux City, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018. A Funeral Mass will be 1 P.M. Monday, May 21, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time at the church. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Jefferson, South Dakota.
Darlene was born the daughter of Cyril and Marie (LaCroix) Trudeau on April 21, 1928 in Jefferson, South Dakota. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1945. Darlene married Bob Carlson on May 29, 1946 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Bob passed away in 2016.
Darlene worked for Bank of Union County, Riverside Junior High, and West High School. She retired in 1990. She loved her family very much. She also enjoyed her computer, reading, crocheting, and baking. She had many great friends whom she played cards with every Wednesday and had lunch with once a month.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 57 years.
Survivors include her children, Debra Clay (Gerald) of Sioux City, Robert Carlson (Linda) of Lawrence, KS, Jody Welch (William) of Sioux City, Randal Carlson (Denise) of Elkhorn, NE, Dianne Bell (Thomas) of Sioux City, Jeffry Carlson of Omaha, NE and Melissa Spilger (Brian) of Ankeny, IA; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer Walding, Brad Clay, Scott Carlson, Brandon Carlson, William Welch, Becka McGinn, Brooke Pischke, Michelle Ham, Kimberly Olsufka, Jason Bell, Haley Stoll, Ryan Bell, Nicholas Spilger and Molly Spilger; 25 great grandchildren; sister, Louanne Milbrandt; brother, Marvin (Carolyn) Trudeau; sister-in-law, Joan Carlson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bob.
