James L. "Jim" Kovarna

James L. “Jim” Kovarna, 62, of Hinton, Iowa, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be Monday, May 21, 2018 from 4 to 8 P.M. with family present 6-8 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Jim was born on November 12, 1955, to Marvin and Wilma (Gleason) Kovarna, in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from Hinton Community High School in 1974. He married Marietta Kovarna in February 1982 and with her raised six children.
Jim was proud of his lifetime career as a Soil Conservationist Technician with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service where he retired in 2016. He cherished his family, working the family farm and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Jim is survived by his mother, Wilma Kovarna, Marietta Kovarna, Cassandra and Brent Zimmerman, Charles and Angel Derochie, Christopher and Kelly Derochie, Jamie Kovarna, Kayla Kovarna and Russ Baker, Stephanie Kovarna and fiancé Russell Schlotfeldt as well as his eight grandchildren: Samantha and Ryan Zimmerman, Braiden, Payton, and Joseph Derochie, Cyska and Keely Derochie, and Rosalee Baker.
