Joan Marlene McGaffey

   Joan Marlene McGaffey, 75, of Sioux City departed this life on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at a Sioux City hospital following a short illness.

   Funeral services will be 11 am Monday, May 21, 2018, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sioux City with Rev. James Travis officiating.  Graveside services will be 2:30 pm Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday 4 to 8 pm with family present 6 to 8 pm and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

   Joan, the daughter of Emil and Rose (Scheidt) Will, was born June 2, 1942 in Sioux City.  She graduated from Leeds High School with the Class of 1960.

   Joan was lifelong Sioux City resident and worked for the Sioux City Community Schools Central Kitchen for 37 years until retiring in 2008.  She was also custodian at Calvary Lutheran Church for over 40 years.

   Joan was a lifelong member of Calvary Lutheran Church and was active in Dorcas Circle, Thursday morning Bible class, worship and music committee, Chancel Guild and various other activities.  She was a member of the Sioux City Retired Educators.

   Joan is survived by a daughter Lisa McGaffey and a son Tom McGaffey both of Sioux City; brothers: Ronald (Dorothy) Will and Richard Will both of Sioux City; a sister Ruth (Paul) Hultgren of Sioux Falls, SD and nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Rose Will; a son Randy in 1978; a niece Karla Will; two sisters-in-law and an aunt Alma.
