Avon L. McKnight, 93, of Sioux City died Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Floyd House in Sergeant Bluff.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2018, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel (6200 Morningside Ave) with Rev. David Koehler officiating. Private family burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Avon, the daughter of Martin and Viola (Flanagan) Morely, was born June 11, 1924, in Sergeant Bluff, IA. She attended and graduated from Sergeant Bluff School.
On January 23, 1943, Avon was united in marriage to Charles McKnight in Dakota City, NE and this union was blessed with three children. Avon was a lifelong Sioux City resident and she worked in personnel management for Woolworths for 30 years. She then worked as a teacher’s aide for Head Start until retiring in 1996.
Avon truly loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by three children: Sheryl Collins, Charles (Carol) McKnight and Susan (Rich) Schnee all of Sioux City; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; siblings: Karen Oullette of Minnesota, Mary Burgett of New Mexico, Richard (Judy) Morely of Sioux City, Virginia Rohmiller of Sioux City and Donald Morely of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles on November 5, 1985; son-in-law, Richard Collins; great grandson, Jason Schnee, Jr.; three sisters: Viola Ballinger, Gloria (Don) Mueller, and Dorothy Womack; and two brothers: Michael Morely and Robert Morely.
