Gregory George Fischer

Gregory George Fischer, 72, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday May 9, 2018 at a Sioux City hospital. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday May 15, 2018 at Crescent Park United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Squires officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Gregory Fischer was born March 12, 1946 in Sioux City the son of Joseph and Alav Louise (Lee) Fischer. He attended and graduated from Heelan High School the class of 1964. Gregory then served his country serving in the United States Army from March 29, 1965 until March 28, 1968 in Vietnam War where he received National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Fischer was employed as a truck driver with Sara Lee for 25 years and was a member of the local Teamsters Union. In his free time Greg loved music and was a drummer in a local band in his early years. He will be remembered as the jokester and for giving people nick names, but most of all for being a great husband. He married Betty Lou Harrison in 1965 she preceded him in death in 1990, then on June 4, 1996 in Los Vegas he married Sharon Sumner. Gregory is survived by his wife Sharon Fischer of Sioux City, Two step sons: Michael Sweum of Sioux city and David Sweum and his wife Ellie of Gilbert, AZ one daughter: Kristin Simpon of Sioux City, two brothers: Rog Fischer and his wife Pat of Sioux City, Harry Fischer and his wife Sam of Minnesota, Grandchildren; Gabrial Noah (Simpson), Elizabeth and her husband Cole, Cael, Ryan, Arlo (Albright), Tristan, Hayden, Kellen, Amber (Sweum), sister in law Chris Fischer. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and one brother: Mark, two sisters: Louise Barger, Maryann and her husband Dick Krommenhock
