Ruby J. Rodvold, 96, of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ruby was born on January 20, 1922 in James, Iowa to John R. “Jack” and Iva Pearl (Nelson) Beachy. She attended Sioux City Schools and graduated from Central High School. She married Marvin R. C. Rodvold, Sr. He passed away in 1971.
In 1961, Ruby began working at Pamida. Within a few years, she had worked her way up to a buyer, a previously all-male position. She traveled to trade shows all over the country, doing her best to find quality products for Pamida customers. In 1985, Ruby retired to her favorite place, her home on Blue Lake near Onawa. She later moved to Sioux City to be closer to her family, with her sister Lois and brother Jack living just a few blocks away. Ruby rarely went anywhere without Lois beside her, whether it be shopping or just going for a ride. In 2015, Ruby moved to an assisted living facility, with Lois soon moving in across the hall. Following a hospitalization, Ruby moved to Hillcrest Health Care in Hawarden.
Ruby is survived by her son, Marvin R. C. Rodvold, Jr.; daughter, Marilyn K. (Clint) Lineberry; brother, Jack (Rochelle) Beachy and daughter, Tricia Beachy; sister, Lois Nelson; grandchildren, Kimberly Neher, Kodi Lockey, Cole Lineberry, Todd Rodvold, Troy Rodvold, Kelly Sullivan, Angela Hesse, and Rebecca Lefebvre; 10 great-grandchildren; and very special nieces and nephews of the Nelson and Beachy families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; and one grandson, Justin Lineberry.
