Jean A. Sitzmann, 93 of Sioux City and formerly of LeMars, IA passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
There will be a Memorial Mass at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Neptune, IA. Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Church.
Jean was born May 11, 1924 in rural Hinton, IA; she was the daughter of Arnold and Olive (Strub) Sitzmann. Jean graduated from St. Joseph High School in LeMars, IA.
She spent her life working in the medical field as a doctor’s secretary and then as a medical transcriptionist at Mercy Medical Center. Jean spent the last years of her life as a dedicated care giver to her family.
Jean had been a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in LeMars before moving to Sioux City 4 years ago.
Survivors include her sisters and brother: Lois Hardy of Sioux City, Joyce Ryan of Birmingham, MI, Father Richard Sitzmann of Sioux City and Connie Christiansen and her husband John of Dallas, TX. Jean is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers Don, Earl and Jim Sitzmann.
