Norma A. Craft, 77, of Sioux City passed away Monday April 23, 2018 after a seven and a half, year battle with Dementia at her home. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday April 30, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church visitation will be Sunday April 29, 2018 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel form 4 till 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 till 8 P.M. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Norma was born September 28, 1940 in Custer, South Dakota to Weert and Leona P (Rasmussen) Asche Sheets. She graduated from Hot Springs High School in Hot Springs South Dakota in 1958. She married Ross C. “Butch” Craft June 3, 1958 in Hot Springs, South Dakota. Ross passed away July 23, 1994. With Ross’s occupation as an air traffic controller the family moved 7 times in 14 years finally setting back in Ross’s hometown Sioux City in 1972. Norma was employed with El Fredos when they opened for lunch in the 1970’s then working at Westwood Nursing Home as a cook in 1988. She joined Unicorn Daycare as the head cook and bus driver for child transportation until a back surgery forced into retirement in 2001. Norma worked all her life beginning at age 12 when she set pins at the bowling alley, then waitressing, after marring Ross she was a homemaker until returning to the work force in the 1970’s She enjoyed many hobbies and interests which included bowling, crossword puzzles, playing cards, phase 10, board games at family get togethers, avid reader, tending to her roses and fall canning. Norma is survived by her children Ralph Craft of Boone, IA; Deborah and (John) Craft-Marks of Greenfield, WI; Ron (Heidi) Craft of Hawarden, IA; Rose (Rick) Andersen of Sioux City, IA; six grandchildren Tiffiny Craft of Sioux City; Dan (Shayla) Craft of Baumholder, Germany; Sherril Craft and significant other Geoff Jeffords of Sioux City; Fawn (Dustin) Schlesselman of Marengo, IA; Ronald Ross (Becky) Craft of Rock Hill South Carolina; Geno Andersen and special friend Brenden Witt of Sioux City; 11 great grandchildren; Chris, Logan, Atticus, Sawyer, Jenna, Ethan, Trixie, Olivia, Richard, Colton and Gunnar. One sister; Lucille Sturdivant of Centralia WA; two brothers; Joe Sheets, Mc Alestar OK, Glen (Pat) Sheets of Kent, WA; brother in law Ralph (Sandra) Craft of Williamsburg, VA; sister in law Josie Asche of Borrego Springs, CA; Joanne Sheets of Hot Springs, SD; and Linda Craft of Sioux City along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ross, parents, five sisters; Lois Sherrill, Bertha Rohrick, Lola Smith, Viola Phan and Martha Van Antwerp; four brothers; John Asche, Bud, Darrell and Earl Sheets; four brother in laws Richard Sherrill, Reuben Rohrick, Dean Strdivant and Ronald E. Craft; two sister in laws, Betty and Carol Sheets. The family would like to thank Hospice of Siouxland for their help and support of Norma during this difficult time.
