Josephine Mary “Josie” Semple, 57, after embracing life to the fullest despite her cancer diagnosis, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 in McCook Lake, South Dakota. Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 20, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 420 W 2nd Street, Ponca, Nebraksa with Father Andrew Sohm, a family friend and cousin officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 4 to 8 P.M with family present 6 to 8 P.M. with a Vigil at 7 P.M at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Her husband of 37 years, Richard “Dick” Semple was at her side. She was the daughter of Raymond “Jerry” and Marcella “Sally” Delaney and a lifelong resident of McCook Lake, SD.
She was a loving AND fun-loving mother of three. Sons: Jason (Ardis) Semple and Jake (Nora) Semple, both sons are currently living in North Sioux City, SD. In addition, her daughter Jessy (Adam) Stansbury lives in Canton, SD. Josie has eight amazing grandchildren that she loved very dearly. She also has two brothers, Max (Debbie) Delaney and Lynn (Kim) Delaney, also from McCook Lake, SD. We would remiss if we did not mention Scott, Kay and Abby Semple whom have gone above and beyond with their love and support for our family. Josie was a friend to SO many and a mother to her fur baby, Lou.
Sadly, she was proceeded in death by many-loved ones including her parents Raymond and Marcella Delaney and Sister Diana Delaney Grimsley`. Life, as we know is only temporary and all are remembered, loved and missed. Josie worked her entire life in positions ranging from banks to hospitals, making lifelong friends wherever she went.
Josie’s humor, strength, grace and love for family, friends and life epitomized LIVING LIFE in her final days. These memories will forever comfort us. Cancer sucks and we all pray for a cure.
A donation to the Avera Cancer Center, Sioux Falls, SD will be made by her family. The staff from Avera’s Breast Cancer center will never be forgotten. Their care and guidance made the last 4.5 years more cherished by her loved ones.
