Patricia "Pat" Puetz

Patricia “Pat” Puetz, 86, of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home after declining health over the past 5 months.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with Father David Hemann officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, followed by a luncheon in the Blessed Sacrament Parish Center. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, with the family present from 5:30-8:00 p.m., and a prayer service and rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Pat was born on February 7, 1932, in Sioux City, to Charles and Elizabeth LaBrune. She grew up on a farm outside of Elk Point and graduated from Elk Point High School in 1949. Right after high school, she began working at South Dakota’s Union County treasurer’s office. She then began a long career with St. Joe’s Hospital’s business office and then the hospital’s gift shop. On August 14, 1963, she married W.M. “Bill” Puetz at St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church in Sioux City. They were blessed with three wonderful children. Pat then devoted her time to raising her three children, keeping the accounting records for her husband’s and son’s insurance agencies, and volunteering at various organizations. She spent 17 years as the coordinator of funeral luncheons at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and most recently volunteered at The Bargain Center, where she developed many great and lasting friendships.
Pat’s Catholic faith was integral to her life. She was a devoted and devout member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a daily Mass attendant until the very end. She was an ardent supporter of the University of Notre Dame. She also enjoyed reading and doing daily crossword puzzles (in ink).
Pat is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bill Puetz; son Joe and his wife Michelle and their children Erin and Andrew of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; son Jon and his wife Angie and their children Jack, Bridget, Tommy, and Maggie of Traverse City, Michigan; daughter Ann and her significant other Matt Johnson of Portland, Oregon; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Jean Girard and Mary Lou Roe.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals that tended to Pat’s needs over the last few months, especially those at Mercy Medical Center, Mercy Medical Skilled Care Unit, Holy Spirit Retirement Home, and Hospice of Siouxland.
Memorial contributions may be made in Pat’s honor to The Catholic Women’s League dba The Bargain Center.
