Verna M. Severeide, 97, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Embassy Healthcare in Sergeant Bluff, IA.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2018, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Russell C. Senstad and the Rev. David N. Zirpel as officiants. Inurnment will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Verna Mae, the daughter of William and Lilly (Brinkhouse) Lehman, was born September 6, 1920 in Worthington, MN. She attended Sioux City schools and graduated from East High School in 1938.
On January 20, 1940, Verna was united in marriage to Robert E. Severeide in Ponca, NE. She assisted her husband and son, Larry in the family business, The Morningside Shopper.
Verna was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and had been very active with different groups there. She was a devoted woman of faith. She loved to golf, play cards, painting, bowling and walking. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Verna is survived by five children: Craig Severeide of Sioux City, Larry Severeide of McCook Lake, SD, Kathy (Gary) Bender of Maize, KS, Sherry Severeide of Meza, AZ and Barb Severeide of Sun Prairie, WI; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and one sister, Lucille Burkett of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert E. Severeide on March 2, 2015 and three sisters.
