Marvin H. Winter, 91 of Sioux City passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Morningside Lutheran Church. Rev. Tom LoVan will officiate. Private family burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Friday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
Marvin was born June 4, 1926 in Parkston, SD; he was the son of Edward and Emma (Haag) Winter. Marvin grew up on the family farm in Parkston and attended country school. He farmed with his father until being activated into the U.S. Army. He served in the Army from 1949 to 1951. After the service, Marvin moved to Rock Rapids, IA where he met his future wife. On September 20, 1958, Marvin married Dorothy Dvorak in Rock Rapids.
Marvin was a truck driver for Farm Service, Sun Oil Company and various other businesses.
He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church where he served as an usher. Marvin enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping, gardening and square dancing.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Sioux City; his children: Sandy Winter and Lori Winter both of Sioux City, Mark Winter and his wife Carol of Winterset, IA, Mike Winter and his wife Jonay of Stuart, IA; 5 grandchildren: Nate Winter (Ashley), Ben Winter, Dylan Winter, Dallas Winter and Katy Winter; 1 great grandson Caleb Winter and many nieces and nephews as well.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gerhard and 3 sisters Olga, Edna and Viola.
