Evereada Dupree McDaniel

It is with great sadness that the family of Evereada Dupree McDaniel, 92, of Sioux City, Iowa announce her passing at home on Sunday, March 25, 2018.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Robertson officiating. The burial will take place at Logan Park Cemetery immediately following the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Evereada was born December 12, 1925 in Mineola, Texas. She was the daughter of Clarence and Emma (Thompson) Jackson. She was one of ten siblings. Evereada grew up in Mineola and attended school there. She was married to Dave Dupree in 1944. They moved to Sioux City in 1949 to pursue job opportunities. Dave died on August 13, 1967. She married Olatheaus “Mack” McDaniel on June 30, 1973.

After moving to Sioux City and working a variety of jobs through the years, Evereada retired from Swift & Company. She was a faithful and devoted member of Mount Olive Baptist Church for years. She served many positions including Mother’s Board, Financial Committee and was a member of the choir. She always made sure her children attended church and that they were active as ushers, choir members and Junior Deacons. When Mount Olive closed she moved to Mount Zion to continue her love of worship and fellowship.

Spending time at church and with friends was something Evereada enjoyed, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She enjoyed a long, happy marriage to Olatheaus and loved riding in the car together on their special trips or just sightseeing. Her favorite trip each year was going to California for Palm Sunday to celebrate with her brothers and sisters. Evereada kept a special place in her heart for her children and grandchildren and showered them with unconditional love. Whether it was cooking some of her delicious food, singing songs, taking them on fun trips, or just supporting them through life’s ups and downs, she spent as much time as she could with them. Evereada was a great role model and leaves a legacy of love and commitment to the Lord for her entire family to follow.

She is survived by her husband Olatheaus; her son Gail David (Susan) Dupree of Mesquite, TX; her stepchildren: Michael (Candice) McDaniel of Sioux City, Joyce and Anthony McDaniel and Tammy Dutton of Omaha, NE, Junior (Sharla) McDaniel of Muskogee, OK; her sisters: Lessie Ganaway of Aurora, CO, Norma Lee Rutherford of Hawkins, TX, and Johnnie Mae Stripling of Tyler, TX; her brothers: Earl Jackson of Pacoima, CA, Haskell Jackson of Pomona, CA, and Harold Jackson of Tyler, TX; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sixteen step grandchildren; and six step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Evereada was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Dave Dupree, two children Rita Mae Dupree Sobers and Dale Dupree, two sisters: Louise and Euridee and her brother Edward.

The family would like to thank the staff of Care Initiatives Hospice of Sioux City and the members of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church for their care and kindness towards Evereada and her family.
