Mike O. Wiggs

Mike O. Wiggs, 91 of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mike was born February 27, 1927 in Turin, Iowa; he was the 2nd youngest child of Lewis Lee and Nellie (Quigley) Wiggs. Mike grew up in Turin and in Onawa, Iowa and attended school there. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and attended flight school in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Mike served during WW II.

Following the service, Mike came to Sioux City and worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for many years.

Mike married Betty Jean Hubregtse and she died in 1967. On January 18, 1969, Mike married Mary Ellen Graffeo in South Sioux City. She passed away January 31, 2011 in Sioux City.

Mike enjoyed doing yard work, going to the casino, auctions and rummage sales.

Survivors include his children: Michael Wiggs and his wife Debby of Sioux City, Tamara Ellefson of Wisconsin, Margaret Saville and her husband Marty of Sioux City; a step daughter: Bobbie Reifenrath of Nebraska; 5 grandchildren: Ralph Britton, Ian Wiggs, George, Forrest and Jasper Saville; 4 step grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, a granddaughter Josephine Jo-Lee Saville, a grandson Camron Michael Wiggs, 8 brothers and 4 sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or the Big Sioux Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
