William E. Junge, 80, of Arnolds Park, formerly of Sioux City, passed away, Saturday, March 10, 2018. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
William was born the son of William and Elizabeth (Kersbergen) Junge on April 19, 1937 in LeMars, Iowa. He graduated from Central High School in 1955 and enlisted in the United States Navy shortly after graduation. He served a total of 34 years, active and reserves, in the military, retiring as Master Chief. Bill married Coline “Pat” Easley on January 19, 1963. She passed away August 30, 1996. Bill spent time in Westfield and Akron before settling in Hawarden where he lived from 1981 to 2002. Bill married Barbara Taylor on February 14, 2002 in Sioux City, Iowa. They made their home in Arnolds Park, Iowa.
Bill worked for North American Manufacturing and Linweld as a service technician specializing in electricity.
He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, photography, cooking, and bluegrass music. He was an active member of the American Legion Timpe Post #23 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. He was on the funeral committee and was recognized as the Legionnaire of the Year in 2010.
Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara Junge; four children, Angie Branum, Randy (Elvena) Springer, Curtis (Jane) Junge, and Chris Junge; one brother, Gary (Judy) Junge; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Junge, Kay Smith, and Karen Ritzer; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Coline; two brothers, Robert and Kenneth; and son-in-law, Barney Branum.
In lieu of flowers all memorials can be directed to the Lakes Regional Healthcare hospital and hospice.
