Matthew T. Fisher, 41, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Reverend Kristine Stedje officiating. Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to the service. Matthew was born on July 27, 1976 in Sioux City to Terry W. and Maureen (Pierce) Fisher. He attended and graduated from Hinton Community School, and received an Associate Degree from Western Iowa Technical College. Matthew married Shanna Lukken on October 7, 2006 and to this marriage, one son was born. He was a life-long Sioux City resident, and worked at various sales positions during his working years. Matthew’s first marriage ended in divorce, and he married Shanna Schmidt last year on April 22nd in Sioux City.
This spring, the highways and byways of Woodbury and Plymouth Counties will miss Matt collecting their wild flowers and transplanting them at his home.
Matt is survived by his wife Shanna Fisher of Sioux City; son Pierce Fisher of Sioux City; parents Terry and Maureen Fisher of Sioux City; brother Nathan Fisher of Sioux City; sisters Virginia Thompson of Lincoln, Nebraska and Misty Weldon of San Jose, California; son Zach of Sioux City; step-sons Corey Schmidt, Jacob Schmidt, and Brian Chmielewski; step-grandchildren Jullian, Braxton, Aidan, Liam, and Treyvon; nieces Sadie, Alexandra, Brandy, Haley, and Kelsey; and numerous aunts and uncles from the surrounding area and Pennsylvania.
Matt was preceded in death by his Godparents/Grandparents Porter and Laurie Pierce, Grandparents William C. and Isabel Fisher, and aunt and uncle James and Jean Pierce.
Honorary Bearers for the service will be Pierce Fisher, Nathan Fisher, David Zyzda, David Barto, Corey Schmidt, Lance Pierce, and two uncles Kim L. Fisher and J. Lewis Fisher.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pierce Fisher Beneficiary Account at Security National Bank in Sioux City.
