Marion M. Baker, 92, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 9, 2018 at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 5 to 7 P.M. with a prayer service at 7 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Marion was born the daughter of Estella (Meyer) and Floyd DeLong on January 9, 1926 in O’Neill, Nebraska. She married Samuel Baker on June 16, 1949 in O’Neill. They made their home in Sioux City for 57 years. Sam died in 2006.
Marion worked for Western Union for three years until she married. She then became a homemaker and seamstress for her family and the Siouxland community.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and embroidering. She liked to spend time with her family, attend her grandchildren’s activities, and entertain at her home. She cherished her family fishing trips to Minnesota each summer with Sam and the kids.
Marion was a member of the First United Methodist Church, PEO, and A&M Women’s Circle.
Marion is survived by three children, Richard (Kristen) Baker of Castle Pines, Colorado, Barbara (Tim) Schiller Stevens of Divide, Colorado, and Marilyn Scott of Sioux City, Iowa; one brother, Dean (Ila) DeLong of Lincoln, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one infant son, Robert Allan; and one son-in-law, Jim Scott.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Heritage at Northern Hills, Hospice of Siouxland, and niece, Ellen Ayers for their wonderful care.
Loving wife, mother, sister, grandparent, great-grandparent, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by so many.
