Rodney “Pete” Dean Beargeon, 73 of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at a Sioux City hospital.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Armstrong, IA. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Pete was born December 20, 1944 in Homer, NE; he was the son of Frederick and Luella (Huggenberger) Beargeon. Pete grew up in the south bottoms of Sioux City. He attended Sioux City Schools, St. Michael’s Grade School in South Sioux City, NE and then school in Dakota City, NE. Pete served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967 on the U.S.S. Pine Island.
In 1967, Pete married Roxie Bossow of South Sioux City, NE. To this union 2 sons were born, David and Chad.
Pete married Janet (Atkinson) Weber January 3, 1997 in Dakota City, NE.
Pete worked as a lineman in Kansas City, MO, as an independent truck driver and then for South Sioux City Foundry.
Pete enjoyed fast cars, going to the casino, football, baseball, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Janet of Sioux City; 5 children: David Beargeon of Missouri, Chad Beargeon of Texas, Michael Weber of Sioux City, Kristy Rowan (Eric) of Kentucky, and Matthew Weber of Sioux City; a sister Kay Nilson of South Sioux City, a brother Roger Beargeon (Alice) of South Sioux City, and 2 sisters-in-law Karen Mitchell of Armstrong, IA and Amy Atkinson of Fort Myers, FL; 3 grandchildren: Marissa Weber, Michael Weber III and Emily Rowan; a great-granddaughter: Kaitlyn Lopez and several nieces and nephews.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Connor Rowan, and nephew Michael Hammers.
