Carol Denmead, age 83, passed away at her home in Sun Lakes, Arizona, on February 1, 2018.
She was born on August 24, 1934 in Sioux City, Iowa, to Maurice and Martha (Mathison) Blinco. She attended Central High School and Morningside College in Sioux City.
Carol charmed and entertained with humor, natural beauty and charisma. Throughout her life, she enjoyed music and was active in the church choir and amateur theater. She was often cast in roles as the ingénue or red-haired vamp, and most recently performed with Sun Lakes Community Theatre. She impressed many people with her encyclopedic knowledge of Hollywood film stars and their filmographies.
In 1955, Carol transferred from her job at Northwestern Bell in Sioux City to Denver, where she continued her career with Mountain Bell. In Denver, she met Ted Johnson Jr., and they were married in 1957. They had two children together; Jolene and Teddy.
Carol lived the second half of her life in Arizona, where she met and married Drew Denmead. After Carol retired from Mountain Bell in Phoenix, they moved to Green Valley where they both worked in real estate. They enjoyed many trips and cruises during more than 10 years of marriage. Drew passed in 2005.
Those left to honor and remember Carol include her two children, Jolene (John) Hall of Floyd, Virginia, and Ted Johnson III, of Antananarivo, Madagascar; her sister, Beverly (Craig) Douwstra of Chandler, Arizona; and grandchildren, Jake and Sarah Hall.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Drew, and her sister Lynne (Richard) Earle.
At her request, there will be no services. She will be laid to rest next to Drew in the Blinco family plot at Graceland Memorial Park in Sioux City; near her grandparents who immigrated from Norway in 1900.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carol’s name to Hospice of the Valley: https://www.hov.org/donate/
