Margaret Mary Wiltgen, 81, of Sioux City passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday at Holy Cross Parish, Blessed Sacrament Center. Rev. David Hemann will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. with a 4:00 P.M. rosary said by members of St. Therese study group and a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Margaret was born September 3, 1936 in Omaha, NE; she was the youngest of 11 children born to Paul Leo and Ann Josephine (Maher) Kelley. Margaret grew up in Omaha and graduated from Sacred Heart High School and then attended Duchesne College.
On May 5, 1962, Margaret married James N. Wiltgen in Omaha, NE, he passed away on December 26, 2007 in Sioux City.
Margaret was a devout Catholic and an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church for over 50 years. She taught C.C.D classes for many years and was a member of the St. Theresa Study Club. She was very active with Birthright of Siouxland, which included almost 20 years as co-director. Margaret focused so much time in support of her family, but also enjoyed playing Bridge and Bunco with her many friends.
Survivors include her children: James Wiltgen (Suzanne) of Conway, AR, Leo Wiltgen (Lisa) of Suwanee, GA, Patty Ganzer (Jim) of New Berlin, WI, Lisa (Greg) Russell of Omaha, NE, John Wiltgen of Sioux City, Norita Breyfogle (Collin) of Sioux City, Nicole Stanek (Joe) of Sioux City, Daniel Wiltgen (Kristy) of Chicago, IL; 2 sisters: Sister Maureen Kelley, O.P. of Jacksonville, FL and Geraldine “Jerry” Dunne of Sherrills Ford, NC; 17 grandchildren: John Wiltgen, Elena Wiltgen, Claudia Wiltgen, Nick Wiltgen, Mike Wiltgen, Katie Ganzer, Johnny Ganzer, Reenie Ganzer, James Russell, Maggie Breyfogle, Bridget Breyfogle, Claire Breyfogle, Brett Breyfogle, Ryelle Stanek, Joseph Stanek, Wyatt Stanek and Anthony Stanek.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, a son Michael and 8 brothers and sisters Tom, Paul (Rev. John), Bill, Barney (Rev. Paul, O.S.B.), Kathryn (Foley), Claire (LaHood), Norita (Salerno) and Pat (Scanlan).
